The election process for the board of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery (RSN) is conducted biennially during the General Meeting of the SRN, coinciding with the RSN Congress. This crucial event sets the trajectory for the society’s operations over the ensuing two-year term. The composition of the board is meticulously structured to ensure comprehensive representation and effective governance within the neurosurgical community.
Comprising key leadership roles, the board includes the president, three vice-presidents, an ex-president, secretary, treasurer, a representative from the resident medics organization, and three additional members. Notably, the President of the Neurosurgery Society of the Republic of Moldova is integrated into the RSN’s board, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange across borders, thereby enriching the collective expertise of the governing body.
Furthermore, commencing from 2023, an additional vice president is elected to specifically represent the spinal surgery department, recognizing the growing significance and specialization within this critical subfield of neurosurgery.
Recognizing the importance of diverse perspectives and specialized expertise, the board of the SRN has allocated two interim positions until the subsequent General Meeting of SRN. These positions encompass a representative from the Diaspora Neurosurgery community and a delegate from the private hospitals specializing in neurosurgery. Such strategic appointments underscore the commitment to inclusivity and responsiveness to the evolving landscape of neurosurgical practice.
In essence, the governance structure of the RSN embodies a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and adaptability, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of advancing neurosurgical care and research in the region.
